“ A great dive bar. Old school, open since 1933. Pool tables, strong drinks and cheap beer. I love the low key crowd. My only complaint is the smoking. It's one of the few bars around here you can still smoke in, so it's hazy. However, if you smoke that's probably a good thing. ”

“ So many ways to describe it. Dive bar, oldest bar, historical bar, locals bar and many more. They hold the oldest and longest running liquor license in the state of Texas. We love coming here and when we have friends or family in town we always come here to show them the history of the place. Bathrooms are out back, beer is cold and shuffle board is free. They have a couple of pool tables, Randy Rogers filmed a music video here and you can write your name on the wall. ”
“ Oct 2024 - Riley's Tavern is a MUST STOP just on historical Texas reference alone. Don't let the outside appearance scare you away. it is rough but worth a look and a cold brew at the bar. I can't comment on the food, but there is/was a food truck, and you can bring it inside to enjoy. It wasn't busy, so the service was great. The inside of this place is as rough as the outside looks, yet sooo Texas ya got to LOVE IT! There's also a backyard area. So if you're in the area of Hunter, Texas, just off I-35 between Austin and San Antonio close to New Braunfels or San Marcos, stop in for a beer, take in the history and enjoy a bit of Texas folklore.
